Everton star Dele Alli has revealed that he has suffered a new injury setback but has vowed to come back stronger than ever.
After his Tottenham Hotspur career came to a standstill, Alli decided to leave North London for Everton back in January 2022.
However, the 27-year-old failed to rediscover his best football during his time with the Toffees and spent the majority of the 22/23 season on loan at Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas.Alli’s time with the Turkish side was cut short after he suffered a season-ending injury and has since been working on his return back at Everton.
However, Alli has now revealed he has suffered a fresh injury setback but has vowed to return stronger than ever.
On social media, the midfielder wrote: “Setback with the injury, but making sure I come stronger than ever!”
Earlier in the year, Alli revealed his struggles with mental health during an emotional interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap.
Alli said: “I was in a bad cycle. I was relying on things that were doing me harm. I was waking up every day, winning the fight going into training every day smiling - willing to show I was happy.“Inside I was losing the battle and it was time to change. When I was told I needed surgery I could feel the feelings I had when the cycle began.”Alli has also revealed that Everton boss Sean Dyche has been supportive.
As per the Daily Mail, he said: “Me and (Dyche) have had some good conversations, not so much about football at this point because obviously I'm still injured, but about where I'm at.
“And I'd like to say a big thanks to him as well – I think for someone that didn't really know me, for this to be thrown on him and to be so understanding and not even just understanding, we had a good conversation and, like I said, he was supportive.”
