Thika Queens Team Manager Glenstone Muganga has termed their weekend 1-0 defeat to Zetech Sparks as a ‘wake-up call’, adding that it is a timely reminder they are susceptible to losses and should train harder for their forthcoming fixtures moving into the second leg of the Kenya Women Premier League.
Thika Queens are third in the women's league with 21 points after 11 games, four behind league leaders Gaspo Ladies who dethroned title contenders Vihiga Queens over the weekend after thrashing them 2-0 at the Mumias Sports Complex.
Puren Anyetu scored the lone goal to hand Zetech the win.
“This is a timely wake up call for us and it is good that it has come early enough before we hit the second leg of the tournament because now the girls know that the second leg is the league decider,” said Muganga.
Their loss comes just days before they host Transnzoia Falcons this weekend, having lost to them in their first leg fixture before facing Bunyore Starlets next week who also beat them in their first leg fixture.
Muganga has the same time reiterated his desire to ensure they finish top of the KWPL saying they’ll do everything possible to attain the dream
“The task ahead of us now is difficult because every game that we are going to play is a must win and it is even more complicated because we are facing teams that beat us in the first leg starting this weekend when we host Transnzoia Falcons then Bunyore Starlets next weekend,” he explained.
The Queens are third on the women league table with 21 points after 11 games, four behind league leaders Gaspo Ladies who dethroned title contenders Vihiga Queens over the weekend after thrashing them 2-0 at the Mumias Sports Complex.
