The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned lawyer Danstan Omari, in connection to an alleged police raid at the home of former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i.
In a letter dated February 21, detective Michael K. Sang, a superintendent of police at DCI headquarters on Wednesday, February 22, without fail.
The officer says he is “investigating allegations of Publication of False Information contrary to section 23 of the computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act 2018 amongst other offences in regard to alleged invasion and raid of the residence of the former Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Co-ordination, Dr. Fred Matiang'i on the 8 t h 9th day of February 2023 allegedly by a "battalion" and/or "garrison" of police officers.”
He linked the lawyer to the offence.
“I have reasons to believe that you, Danstan Omari, an Advocate of the High court of Kenya, is connected to the offence or has information which can assist me in my investigations,” he said.
Failure to avail himself at the DCI headquarters, Sang said will constitute “an offence liable to prosecution.”
Omari is a lead lawyer in the case where Matiang’i accused police officers of raiding his home at night.
