City stars are on the right trajectory despite their 2-1 loss to Police FC at Kasarani Annex Stadium on Wednesday, head coach Nicholas Muyoti has said.
Muyoti is adamant that the Wednesday match result should not Be a yardstick of measuring the team’s performance but rather the team's dominance of the game in both halves, noting that they fell to the defeat due to lapse in concentration.
He further holds that lack of experience was a factor in the defeat noting that they lost more than eight clear-cut chances to score.
“We played very well and scored an early goal but in the start of the second half we conceded two quick goals as a result of concentration lapse and that is how we lost. Again, this comes down to the experience of the players; how to handle the game when you concede a goal,” said Muyoti.
Muyoti however believes that technically the squad has improved a lot compared to how they previously played earlier games and it is only a matter of time before they get back to winning ways.
Moving forward, he says the squad will work on sealing the loopholes in the defence and create cohesion in the back line that has so far cost them wins especially in the last minutes of the games.
“We will be looking at our defensive line to try to make some amendments moving to the next game because that is where our biggest problem is. We have conceded and lost in games that we played so well and this is due to lapse in concentration on our defence,” added Muyoti.
City stars are 15th on the FKF-PL table with 11 points after 15 games this season.
