Chelsea star who reportedly takes home £100,000 per week has been left out of the club’s Premier League squad after being forgotten by Mauricio Pochettino.
It has been another busy summer transfer window for the Stamford Bridge club after a big spending spree.
Chelsea brought in the likes of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Nicolas Jackson and Robert Sanchez in what was a record-breaking transfer window.
With the transfer window now closed, Chelsea have finalised their 25-man squad for the Premier League. However, defender Malang Sarr, who reportedly earns £100,000 a week has been left out of the squad.
Last month, Blues boss Pochettino awkwardly forgot Sarr was still at the club.
During the post-match press conference after their win over Luton Town, Pochettino was asked: “I just wanted to ask about two players who have disappeared. Malang Sarr, who was on loan last season.”
At this point, a confused Pochettino replied: “Who?”
The journalist said: “Malang Sarr, and what has happened to Jamie Cummings who played the game against Wrexham [in the preseason]?”
Pochettino then replied: “Oh my goodness. Malang Sarr and then Jamie? I don't know what I can tell you.”With the Turkish transfer window still open, it has been reported that Sarr could still leave Chelsea before the deadline on Friday.
The likes of Lavia, Levi Colwill, Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto and Noni Madueke were all left out of the Premier League squad due to being aged 21 or under.Premier League rules state: “Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad. Each player is assigned a squad number, which they wear during Premier League matches.
“For the 2023/24 campaign, Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2002.”
Chelsea will return to Premier League action this weekend when they take on Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
