Back in England, Chelsea's under-23s had a run out against Aldershot, but failed to beat the National League outfit.
The Hampshire-based club won the fixture 3-1 as they poked fun at them on Twitter.
Following the result, they shared a graphic of the result, accompanied with the caption: "A comfortable victory against mid-table Premier League opposition."
Fans of both clubs reacted to the savagery online, with Chelsea supporters bringing up a story of how they saved Aldershot from 'financial ruin' after striking a youth-team agreement back in 2013.A youthful-looking Chelsea side featured the likes of Teddy Curd, Dylan Williams and Ronnie Stutter as they suffered a shock defeat at The EBB Stadium.
As mentioned above, Pochettino's team will return to action against Newcastle before facing Fulham on Sunday.
They then face Borussia Dortmund before opening their Premier League campaign against Liverpool on August 13.
