OpenAI’s ChatGPT app is now available on Android devices in four(4) countries. Android device users in U.S., India, Brazil, and Bangladesh can now download the app from Google Play Store, according to the company. Other countries like Nigeria can be on the lookout as the company said more countries will be added progressively.

This new update by the AI company follows the debut of ChatGPT on IOS two months ago. For iPhone users, OpenAI ChatGPT was made available in the United States before other countries.

According to the Google Play Store listing, the app is free, and Android users only need to sync their history across devices to access the latest OpenAI features as they become available.

According to Digitaltrends, when OpenAI submitted a listing for the Android app to the Google Play Store, it signalled that it was nearing completion, and on Tuesday, an “install” button appeared, allowing downloads.

The company closed a $300 million share sale in April at a valuation of $27–29 billion, with investments from companies like Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz. Additionally, Microsoft strengthened its partnership with OpenAI by recently increasing its investment with the company by $10 billion, making it the largest AI investment of the year.ChatGPT’s AI model was trained using internet data, and it may occasionally be incorrect and also susceptible to disseminating sensitive data.

Regarding this, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently investigated the company over claims that the chatbot breached data privacy regulations and disseminated inaccurate information reported by some users. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, responded that his company would work with the FTC to demonstrate that the technology behind ChatGPT and other products is “safe and pro-consumer.”

Furthermore, the commission asked the company to provide information on its products, and marketing strategy, as well as insights into how new items are prepared for introduction. It was concluded by FTC that If OpenAI was found to be guilty of the allegations at any point, the commission will take actions such as a “consent decree” agreement.
