Rangers have 13 points from five matches and sit top of the standings, their only blemish this season being their season opening 0-0 draw with Posta Rangers.

The mailmen take on Nzoia Sugar at the Kasarani Annex, looking to continue their unbeaten run and battle to keep their top spot.

Coached by the experienced John Kamau, nicknamed ‘Guardiola’ for his preferred style of play and football philosophy, Posta have not only been on a winning run, but also picking up convincing results while at it.

They have beaten Police FC 3-0, Sofapaka 3-1, while back to back 1-0 victories over Kariobangi Sharks and Murang’a Seal have shown their grit to grind results in difficult matches.

Kamau has retained a huge majority of the squad that he had last season, and this has ensured continuity. He has also injected a few fresh faces, including the experienced Jackson Macharia from Tusker, a midfielder he worked with in his youth at Thika United.

They come up against a Nzoia side still reeling to find their footing after losing almost their entire squad and head coach at the close of last season.

The sugar millers have only one win, their opening day 2-1 conquest at home against Ulinzi Stars, while they have lost their last two matches.

Meanwhile in other fixtures lined up Friday afternoon, the winless Shabana FC play their second match in the capital when they take on Tusker FC at the Kasarani Stadium.

Shabana’s return to top flight football for the first time in 17 years hasn’t gone exactly to script, as they have only three points from three draws with the other two matches ending in defeat.

Sammy Okoth and his charges have been pushed by a brilliant 12^th man support, their ardent fans filling stadia wherever they travel.

While it might be a bit hard to fill the 60,000 seater Kasarani Stadium, Tore Bobe and their faithful will hope to clinch their maiden win of the season.

Tusker, champions in 2020-21, have had a mixed bag of results this season, with two wins, two draws and a defeat.

Robert Matano’s men have been figuring out their cohesion also with a number of first team players leaving at the end of the season, while injuries have also not helped their course.

They sit sixth in the standings with eight points, but could move as high as second if they manage maximum points at home against Shabana.

In the other match lined up Friday, Kakamega Homeboyz will host FC Talanta at the Bukhungu Stadium.
