Bruno Fernandes has singled out two Manchester United players as he hailed his team's 'fighting spirit' in their defeat at Bayern Munich.
Man United suffered a bruising 4-3 defeat to Bayern as Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane and Mathys Tel all got on the score-sheet.
The Red Devils fought till the end as Rasmus Hojlund and Casemiro (x2) scored in the second-half to reduce the deficit in their Champions League opener.
Fernandes has since called on his teammates to show more 'fighting spirit' as they look to turn their fortunes around following a turbulent start to the new season. In doing so, he singled out Andre Onana, who made a howler for Bayern's first goal on Wednesday, and Facundo Pellistri, who started the Champions League clash at the Allianz Arena.
On Onana, Fernandes said: "Andre is a great goalkeeper. He will keep giving us a lot of points, a lot of saves. He hasn't to take any blame.
"We have to take the blame as a team. We're going to go through this moment together because we are strong as a team."
The Portuguese added: "Pellistri is one of the players that deserves his chances. He deserves a lot of credit for everything he’s been through and everything he has done for the team.
"He’s always available, he’s someone that's always training hard, he’s someone that deserves his chances and he did well."He did the job that the manager asked him to do and we are all happy for him because he really deserves to get his chances."
The Man United skipper liked the spirit his side showed in Germany as he issued a rallying cry to his teammates.
"The positive is that the spirit, the fighting spirit, was there. We tried," he added.
"It wasn't still enough to win the game, or to get something from the game, but at periods, the team showed great spirit. But we have to do it more often and for 90 minutes."
