The body of Sharon Jepkosgei Kigen, who passed away after drowning in Sydney, Australia's River Georges Macquarie while swimming with friends, arrived at Eldoret International Airport on Sunday.
Her body was received by a smattering of family and friends who could barely control their emotions at the airport.
Emotions ran high as the hearse carrying the deceased exited the airspace for a brief mass within the Airport's compound before being moved to the Eldoret hospital mortuary in preparation for her burial on Tuesday, March 14.
Family members were overcome with emotion as the casket was opened to reveal their daughter's body, who had gone to the Catholic University in North Sydney to study Masters in IT and was set to begin on February 23.
28-year-old Sharon had been in Australia for only three months and was awaiting to start her classes when she drowned during an excursion with her friends.
