National women's team coach Paul Bitok has urged teams to turn up for the Eldoret City and the Heroes Volleyball tournaments set for Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties respectively.
The Eldoret tournament will be held between December 8 -9 at the Eldoret Sports Club and will be preceded by the Kenya Volleyball Federation league.
“As Eldoret tourney gears up for its second edition, the resounding cheers of passionate sports enthusiasts are set to shake the very foundations of the city,” he said.
Bitok, who is also the KVF deputy president, said the tournament is a symbol of unwavering dedication to the sport and called upon the spirited souls of the volleyball world to gather for competition.
“It's not just any tournament; it's a testament to years of hard work and dedication. This grand event is not a one-off show but a jewel in the crown, a legacy that traces its roots back to 1998,'' he said.
“With a maximum of 24 teams poised to grace the courts, the competition will unfold with various formats, each adapting to the number of teams registered. The anticipation is palpable, the excitement electric, as teams are assigned to their respective pools,” he added.
Bitok said the tournament which started with only four teams at Simat Primary School has grown into an international event.
“Little did anyone know that this small spark would ignite into a roaring fire of competition, gradually branching out from local to national and finally international status. However, the journey wasn't always smooth,'' he added.
The Heroes Community tournament is set for Mosoriot, in Nandi County from November 2- 5 at Koitaleel Samoei University grounds.
