Bahir Dar City beat Mekelakeya 2-1 Sunday to earn their first win of the season and Hawassa City piled more misery on newly promoted Shashemene City with a 1-0 win.
Bahir Dar drew first blood in the 12th minute with a strike by Firew Solomon and will take the 1-0 lead to halftime.
They were soon 2-0 up early in the second half following Habtamu Tadesse's 49th minute goal.
Mekelakeya pulled one goal back on through their star signing, Shimeles Bekele to bring the scores down to 2-1
Shashemene City on the other hand have not found the going smooth in their second game since gaining promotion.
They have now lost a second straight game despite giving Hawassa a good game holding them goalless for more than an hour.
Hawassa's goal would come in the 63rd minute through Eyob Alemayehu.
It will be recalled that Shashemene City lost their opening game by the same scoreline to Wolaitta Dicha in week 1.
