Anthony Martial reportedly left Manchester United training after just five minutes.
After what has been an injury-hit time at United, Martial had hoped to impress Erik ten Hag in the 23/24 season.
The Frenchman started the Red Devils’ last two matches, a 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest and a 3-1 defeat by Arsenal.
In both games, Martial was unable to provide a positive impact as he failed to record a goal or assist.
He was replaced after 60 minutes against Forest and after 67 minutes against Arsenal. After United spent big on Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window, Martial’s opportunities could now be limited.
According to the Daily Mail, Martial was pictured leaving the club’s training ground on Thursday morning just five minutes after he arrived.
The 27-year-old was spotted driving into the club’s Carrington training base but he was seen driving his Mercedes G Wagon back out shortly afterwards.
This has raised concerns that Martial could be injured once again ahead of United’s match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, who claimed that Martial left after just five minutes due to the fact that he was told training was later in the day.
Since joining United from AS Monaco back in 2015 for a reported fee of £36 million, Martial has struggled to live up to the expectations. To date, he has played 301 times for the Old Trafford club, scoring 88 goals across all competitions.
Speaking recently, former United defender Rio Ferdinand voiced his own frustrations at Martial's contribution.
He said on his FIVE YouTube show: “I know for a fact that when Erik ten Hag's coaching staff went in there and saw Martial up close and personal, they were like ‘we can see why every manager rates him’.
“Because his ability is world class but he can't put it together.”
Ferdinand continued: “Anthony Martial is so talented but he has to deliver consistently, that is what Man Utd No 9s do. They don't have days off. That is his problem, whether it is fitness or form, he falls off. It is so disappointing and frustrating because he has crazy ability.”
