AmaZulu FC will face off with SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership match to be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off is at 5:30 pm CAT.
CURRENT FORM
Usuthu began their 2023/24 campaign with a 0-0 draw against one of their KwaZulu-Natal rivals, Royal AM at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday.
The draw stretched AmaZulu's winless run to four matches in the DStv Premiership having recorded two consecutive defeats and two draws.
Meanwhile, SuperSport got off to the perfect start in the current season as they emerged as 2-0 winners over Richards Bay at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
The win saw Matsatsantsa bounce back to winning ways in the league as they ended the 2022/23 season with a 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United.
TEAM NEWS
AmaZulu have no suspension concerns having been boosted by the availability of Celimpilo Ngema who served his one-match suspension against Royal AM.
SuperSport, on the other hand, also doesn't have any suspension worries coming into their encounter against Usuthu in Durban.
WHAT WAS SAID?
AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin
"We will keep playing with these guys I’m really happy with them [the AmaZulu players], with their commitment and effort,” Franco Martin said.
“You know in the end all coaches in the world want more and more players. We are never happy with what we want.
"This is the mentality I have and I’m sure the rest of my colleagues in the league also have.”
SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt
“I saw him [Shandre Campbell - Man of the Match against Richards Bay] last year, I watched him the whole of last year. He’s got a lot to do still but he’s definitely got ability,” Hunt said.
“I mean let’s judge people over a period of time, not over one game or two games. In South Africa, we have one good game and then… Let’s judge him over a season or two or three.
“Good start for the kid yeah, should have scored in the first half. His work rate is good. He kept the shape. “As I said he hasn’t trained with us for two weeks, which is a problem for me but what can I do, he’s at school.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
AmaZulu FC
Bonginkosi Ntuli: The 32-year-old marksman has hit the back of the net 26 times from 86 league starts for Usuthu since making his debut for the club in 2015 as a Mamelodi Sundowns loanee.
Ntuli remains one of the KwaZulu-Natal giants' key players and he has the ability to single-handedly inspire Usuthu to a win over SuperSport.
SuperSport United
Terrence Dzvukamanja: The Zimbabwe international has reunited with his former coach at Bidvest Wits, Gavin Hunt, who is able to get the best out of the experienced forward.
Dzvukamanja marked his debut for SuperSport with a goal against Richards Bay and he will be confident of inspiring Matsatsantsa to another win.
