AmaZulu coach Paolo France bemoaned his side’s performance on Saturday as they played out a third successive goalless draw and are yet to find the net this season.
The 0-0 tie against struggling Richards Bay at the Moses Mabhida Stadium came after a poor performance by both sides and leaves AmaZulu still to beat their provincial neighbours.
“Well, it’s the same story. We are not scoring, we are not conceding. But if I'm brutally honest, I think when we are playing at home, we need, from the first whistle, to be much more aggressive and to play with much more confidence,” said the Spanish coach, who took over at the start of the season.
“We gave the ball away so cheap. We must play much better football than we do omn our training pitch. I don't know why, if it's a matter of nerves or we are lacking enough confidence in the vital moments, but when you are not having continuity it’s impossible to progress and impossible to create chances.”
Franco said he “threw the first half in the bin” and felt they did better after the break, even if chances were still limited.
“We started dominating much more the game even though we didn’t create many chances, and those chance we're creating, we are not converting. We were not as well organised as in the previous two games.
“I cannot be happy at all about the performance, I cannot be happy at all with the result. Even expecting it was going to be a tough, seeing the performance of the players during the week, the way we are working, the way we are behaving, I was convinced we would win.”
Of the several thousands fans who watched the game, the coach added; “We need to give these people more fun and more joy when they are coming to watch us and to support us.”
