The Amazon Pharmacy kiosks will stock a variety of common prescriptions, including antibiotics, inhalers, and blood pressure medications. Patients can have their provider send prescriptions directly to the kiosk. Once verified by an Amazon pharmacist, medications can be collected using a QR code on the Amazon app—ready in just minutes.
Starting December, Amazon Pharmacy kiosks will be available at One Medical offices in Los Angeles. The company plans to expand them to other locations in the future. The inventory at each kiosk depends on the prescribing habits of that clinic, ensuring patients get what they need most.
While the kiosks cover a broad range of prescriptions, they won’t offer controlled substances or medications that require refrigeration. This approach focuses on essential medications that patients often need immediately after an appointment.
Amazon’s vending machines aim to reduce the hassle of visiting a traditional pharmacy. By making prescription collection faster and easier, fewer prescriptions go unfilled, and patients can start treatment sooner. The kiosks also help minimize travel and save valuable time for busy patients.
As Amazon expands its vending machine network, patients may soon see a shift in how prescriptions are delivered. Combining technology with healthcare, the company is making prescription access more seamless and patient-friendly.
