The National Intermediate Boxing Championships will begin on Thursday at the Ongata Rongai Social Hall, the Kajiado County Boxing Association (KCBA) Secretary General Michael Otieno Ragot has confirmed.
Ragot, who is also the coach of Ongata Rongai Boxing Club, says organisers expect boxers from all 47 counties in the country.
The competition, organized by KCBA in collaboration with the Boxing Federation of Kenya, will run until Saturday, March 4.
"We are ready to organize this national competition shortly after the completion of the Novice Championship. The ring has already arrived and we have faith we’ll stage a successful event,” Ragot said.
The event follows the completion of the National Novice Championship, which took place from February 2-4 at Umoja 1 in Nairobi.
Brighton Onsongo of lightweight, heavyweight Boniface Muchira, and Cleniece Murugi of welterweight made it to the finals during the event. Kajiado was crowned second following an exceptional performance.
