Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho’s brother has potentially hinted at a potential shirt number change.
After joining United’s youth teams from Atletico Madrid back in 2020, Garnacho made a quick progression and ended up making his senior debut in 2022.
Since then, he has been regarded as one of the best young talents to ever come through the ranks at the club.
Garnacho has always worn the number 49 shirt ever since his first appearance for the Old Trafford club.However, over the last few months, there were rumours that he could be given the number seven shirt after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
But the number seven was eventually given to summer signing Mount.
Now, Garnacho’s brother, Roberto has hinted at a potential number change for the 19-year-old.
Posting on social media, Roberto posted a picture of Ronaldo wearing the number 17 shirt for Portugal.
This has led to fans speculating that Garnacho could be given that shirt number.Furthermore, summer signing Hojlund could also be impacted by Garnacho’s potential new number.It was widely believed that Hojlund could get the number 17 shirt after Fred’s departure.
However, with Garnacho’s brother’s bombshell, Hojlund could well get the number 11 as current occupier Mason Greenwood is unlikely to play for the club again.
So, this means that Garnacho could change from number 49 to number 17, whilst new striker Hojlund gets the number 11.Earlier in the month, it was announced that there was a mutual agreement between United and Greenwood that the best solution is for the forward to continue his career away from Old Trafford.
Greenwood said in a statement: “I want to start by saying I understand that people will judge me because of what they have seen and heard on social media, and I know people will think the worst.
“I was brought up to know that violence or abuse in any relationship is wrong, I did not do the things I was accused of, and in February I was cleared of all charges.”
