Alejandro Garnacho appears to be in line for a new squad number at Manchester United after a clue was spotted on the club's official website.
Man United are just days away from opening their 2023/24 Premier League campaign as they entertain Wolves next Monday.
Ahead of the Red Devils' first league fixture of the new season, one of their starlets in Garnacho hasn't got a squad number allocated.
That's according to the club's official website as the 19-year-old is NOT on the list of players on the Man United store.
The Argentine winger wore the No.49 shirt last season and has been wearing the same number during his appearances in pre-season.But Garnacho's No.49 shirt is not available on Man United's store, suggesting a new squad number is in the works for the upcoming season.
No.1 and No.4 are the only first-team squad numbers available following the departures of David de Gea and Phil Jones.
The next available squad numbers are No.13 and No.15, then No.30, No.31, No.32, which are all currently vacant. No.19 could also be freed up if Raphael Varane takes up the No.4 shirt for the new season.
Garnacho had been linked with the No.7 shirt following Cristiano Ronaldo's controversial Old Trafford exit.
But summer signing Mason Mount, who joined from Chelsea for £55 million, took the iconic Man United shirt number, following in the footsteps of the likes of David Beckham, Bryan Robson and Edinson Cavani, among others.
