Saudi Professional League club Al Ettifaq have apologised to Liverpool fans over Jordan Henderson’s kit detail.
Last month, it was confirmed that Liverpool captain Henderson has signed for Al Ettifaq in a deal worth a reported £12 million.
The 33-year-old is reportedly set to earn a whopping weekly wage of £700,000.
Upon signing for the club, Henderson was handed the number 10 shirt.However, Al Ettifaq have had to apologise to Liverpool fans for having E.F.C, which is a similar abbreviation of Liverpool’s rivals, Everton, printed on the back of the Englishman’s shirt.
The club wrote on their official Twitter account: “Sorry to all the Liverpool Football Club fans for putting E.F.C on Hendo’s back. At least it’s not blue.
“Better get that number 10 kit before it runs out.”During his 10-year stay at Anfield, Henderson won every major trophy available to him having lifted the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup as well as the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the FA Community Shield.
After joining the club, Henderson said: “This is a totally different project and experience, and it is one of the reasons I wanted to come and try something completely different than I was used to for however many years. I’m excited and happy to be here and to get started.
“It’s obviously a very different challenge to anything I’ve ever done before and that’s one of reasons I wanted to try it and have new experience. I will learn a lot about myself in different ways, and it has been really positive.”He added: “People have been very welcoming and helped me to settle in very well. The heat has been hard and it has been tough trying to adjust, but training has been good - I enjoyed it and I’ve been trying to embrace this different experience and culture and way of living and playing football.”
