Harambee Starlets coach Godfrey Oduor has named a provisional squad of 33 players for the international friendly match against Albania set for April 11, 2023 in Tirana.
The squad features a blend of in-form local-based players and experienced foreign-based players.
The highlight inclusion is lethal strike Esse Akida who plies her professional trade with PAOK of Greece. Akida has been in the cold after being overlooked for national team duties in the last two years. There is also room for the deadly Jentrix Shikangwa, who turns out for Simba Queens in the Tanzanian Premier League.
Desma Nyawade and Maximila Robi who play for Kisped Queens and Kibera Soccer in the FKF Women’s Division One have in the meantime received their first call-ups.
Monalizer Anyango from Zetech Sparks, Ketsi Ngaira from Ulinzi Starlets, and Valentine Khwaka from in-form side Gaspo Women have also received their first international call-ups.
Turkish side trio Mwanahalima Adam (Hakkarigucuspor), Vivian Nasaka (Hakkarigucuspor), and Phoebe Owiti (Hakkarigucuspor) together with the Simba Queens trio Shikangwa, Vivian Corazone, and Ruth Ingosi are also in the squad.
Coach Oduor says he’s building the squad for the future.
"We are happy to have the girls back. We want to start moving this team forward, it’s time to get back to work so that we can realize the immense potential of this team, ” said Harambee Starlets Coach Godfrey Oduor.
The team reports to camp on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
