The 2023/24 Athletics Kenya season begins with the first cross country weekend meeting to be held at the Machakos People's Park on Saturday.
The six-leg series will then head to Kapsokwony, Bungoma County on October 21 even as the national governing body drafts the calendar of events for the rest of the season.
The federation has urged athletes to register in droves for the competition, emphasising the importance of these build-up races as all eyes focus on next year's World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia and the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
"We encourage all athletes to participate in these events as preparations for the season begin," stated the federation.
AK revealed plans for a comprehensive calendar of events in the coming year.
“In the meantime, the AK technical committee, composed of representatives from all the AK regions and affiliates, is in the process of developing a calendar of events for the season. The full calendar of events will be released in due course,” they added.
Kenya will be eager to defend the overall world cross title they won during the previous edition held in Bathurst, Australia.
