Newly promoted Cape Town Spurs have added midfielder Shaquille Abrahams to their squad for their return to the DStv Premiership this season, signing him on Friday for the new season which kicks off next weekend.
The 26-year-old was at Chippa United last season but featured in only four games for the relegation-threatened Eastern Cape club.
Abrahams began his career at Ubuntu Cape Town in the National First Division before being signed as a teenager by Cape Town City, making his debut in the top flight at the end of the 2018-19 season.
He made five substitute appearances for City in the league the following season but after that was loaned out to Cape Umoya United.
Abrahams joins Keegan Buchanan, who joins on a free transfer from relegated Maritzburg United. Spurs have also secured loan deals for next season for Siyanda Msani and Luvoyo Phewa from Mamelodi Sundowns and Boitumelo Radiopane from Orlando Piasyes.
Phewa and Radiopane were at Spurs last season while Msani was loaned out to Richards Bay for the last campaign.
Spurs begin their campaign next Sunday, August 6 with a home match against Polokwane City at the Athlone Stadium.
Polokwane edged Spurs to last season’s Motsepe Foundation Championship title in controversial circumstances.
