The Internship is for 6 months and UNPAID. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the intern may be responsible for the following duties:
1. Research, compile, draft and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of social media and web content, often under tight deadlines.
2. Monitor analyze statistics related to digital content.
3. Gather social media and web content at special events (film screenings, concerts, exhibits, etc.).
4. Assist in the creation of original content for digital platforms.
5. Attend meetings as an observer.
6. Manage meeting agendas and draft meeting notes.
7. Create presentations and training curricula.
8. Carry out research tasks and provide inputs into digital strategy planning and activities.
9. Assists with special projects as assigned.Competencies

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
1. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); 3. Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
3. Be computer literate in standard software applications.
4. Preferred areas of studies: Communications, Information Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Media Studies, Journalism, or related field.
Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.Work Experience

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.Assessment
