The Hotel Cashier is responsible for maintaining highly efficient and courteous food and beverage and Front Office operations in a fast-paced setting by greeting guests, anticipating guests needs, providing knowledgeable client service, and providing consistent professional guest relations with a positive upbeat personality. Works efficiently in a team based environment and must follow all cash handling policies and procedures as well as all internal controls, consistently. They should be able to work closely with all key business partners in order to achieve quality results. The job incumbent acts as a brand ambassador for the hotel, reflecting the company culture and values. All work is carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures and service concepts according to local requirements and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be responsible for cash and its safekeeping
- To ensure that payment is made for services provided and recorded in the system for sale in the outlet
- To prepare cashier’s sales summary daily and tally it with system reading at the close of shifts
- To print and tally transaction list from credit card machines with physical check, and system reading.
- Responsible for reconciling daily sales with the system and physical receipts. Completing all administrative procedures concerning allocated tasks
- Supports a safe hotel by applying hotel regulations, and adhering to existing laws and regulations
- Prepare all appropriate period closing reports and entries
- Answer clients’ questions regarding billed items
- Inform clients about available modes of payments.
- Record totaled amounts, including expenses in hotels’ database.
- Check bills to see if the correct amount has been displayed to be presented to clients
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma / certificate in Finanace or Accounting from recognized training institution
- Computer proficiency (MS office suite)
- At least 2 years in a similar role
- Be eloquent and capable of expressing themselves with ease and professionalism, and be fluent in both English and Swahili languages
- Able to work under minimum supervision
- Possess strong customer service skills
- High level of integrity and zero tolerance to theft
