Seventy-two students from Mukumu Girls' High School in Kakamega County have been hospitalised with diarrhoea symptoms.
The girls were admitted to the Kakamega County General Hospital with health officials speculating a Cholera outbreak.
County public health officials, however, ruled out Cholera after tests revealed a possibility of food poisoning.
The hospital's Director of Communications, Sumba Juma, said an official statement would be issued once facts are ascertained.
Currently, the hospital is still receiving more casualties.
Meanwhile, further tests and inspections are underway at the school.
