Job Summary:
The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the oversight of daily shift operations in Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club, and Laundry departments. They work closely with employees to ensure that guestrooms, public spaces, and employee areas are clean and well-maintained. The role includes conducting inspections and holding individuals accountable for corrective actions. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper contributes to guest and employee satisfaction while managing the operating budget.
Candidate Profile:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience in the housekeeping or related professional area; or a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major without work experience.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
- Familiarity with ordering supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring employees have the necessary equipment and uniforms.
- Knowledge of departmental costs and ability to contribute to financial goals.
- Customer-focused mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
Core Work Activities:
Assisting in Managing Housekeeping Operations
- Ensures timely communication of guest room status to the Front Desk.
- Collaborates effectively with the Engineering department for guestroom maintenance needs.
- Supervises the general cleaning schedule for the property.
- Coordinates work assignments based on the list of rooms requiring immediate cleaning and prospective check-outs or discharges.
- Manages inventory to maintain adequate supplies.
- Assists in supervising daily Housekeeping shift operations, ensuring compliance with all policies, standards, and procedures.
- Supports the ordering of guestroom supplies, cleaning supplies, and uniforms.
- Facilitates effective inspection programs for guestrooms and public spaces.
- Communicates areas needing attention to the staff and follows up to ensure understanding.
- Ensures employees have the necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
Managing Departmental Costs
- Participates in managing controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
- Understands the impact of departmental operations on the overall property’s financial goals and objectives.
- Comprehends budgets, operating statements, and payroll progress reports to contribute to financial management.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
- Responds to and resolves guest problems and complaints.
- Strives for continuous improvement of service performance.
- Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
- Fosters a guest satisfaction-focused approach during departmental meetings.
Conducting Human Resources Activities
- Participates in investigating employee accidents.
- Manages staffing levels to meet guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives.
- Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters.
- Administers property policies fairly and consistently, following Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and supporting the Peer Review Process.
- Observes service behaviors of employees and provides feedback.
- Trains new room attendants using available on-the-job training tools and provides follow-up training as necessary.
- Participates in employee performance appraisal process and provides feedback.
- Assists in the interview and hiring process of team members with appropriate skills.
- Supports new employee orientation programs to ensure proper training.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates through various communication channels.
- Analyzes information and evaluates results to solve problems effectively.
- Raises issues to the department manager and Human Resources as needed.
- Actively participates in relevant meetings.
