CIFOR-ICRAF is looking for a Driver -ICRISAT Kenya

Overview

To support transport activities in ICRISAT under the Programs and assist in the daily errands.

Duties and responsibilities

Drive ICRISAT staff, partners, and affiliates when required.
Monitor day-to-day maintenance checks including but not limited to oil, water, battery, breaks, tires, etc.
Delivery and pickup of items, documentation ensuring accurate capture of what the item/documentation is, who requested the transport of the item, who received the item, and obtaining proper signatures.
Work with the Office Administrator to Update vehicle documents when due.
Actively communicate and systematically report any incident or accident, or breakdown, that occurs on the vehicle to his/her supervisors; and verify that all vehicle administrative documents are in place and updated (insurance, vehicle registration).
Plan for timely vehicle service with approvals from the Budget Holder.
Conducts various analyses and inspections of vehicles and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair and replacement.
Ensure the allocated vehicle has valid documents and in conformity with traffic rules and safety regulations of Kenya track laws.
Fill the Logbook after each trip with the correct information in accordance with the procedures and be able to explain all the movements mentioned when needed.
Keep records in the vehicle logbook e.g., fuel, mileage and submit to the office Administrator on a weekly and monthly basis.
Ensure that all passengers on board the vehicle comply with safety measures or regulations & are ICRISAT staff or partners only.

Requirements

Two years’ work as a professional driver in an NGO organization.
O-level of education.
Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations.
Valid driving license.
Defensive driving is an added advantage.
Skills in minor vehicle repair.
Competent in spoken and written English.
