Four suspected bandits were shot dead by a multi-agency security team from Kirima Sub County, Laikipia County.
According to the area Deputy County Commissioner John Orata, the security team was following the bandits who had raided cattle from Mugie ranch and managed to intercept them at Posta area in Relit village.
A shootout ensued between the bandits and the security officers who managed to neutralize the four suspects.
The security officers recovered a G3 rifle, an M-16 assault rifle, an AK-47 and 4-double pouches of an AK-47 rifle from the suspected bandits.
The four bodies were taken to Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting identification and post-mortem, as security officers pursued other raiders who fled the onslaught.
In a statement, Orata said the government was firm in tackling banditry attacks and livestock raids in the area, and called on members of the public to partner with the government in an effort to eradicate the vice.
