Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) is the training division of the State Department for Roads in the Ministry of Roads and Transport.
The Institute, through the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP), aims to reduce the gender disparity among students in the long-term project-specific courses (Diploma in Highway Engineering and Craft Certificate in Road Construction).
This is to be achieved through boosting enrolment of female students into the above-mentioned programmes offered at the institution.
Therefore, partial scholarships (covering tuition and accommodation) will be offered to Qualifying Kenyan female persons aged 27 and below, from vulnerable backgrounds
Applicants should be willing to learn and possess an aptitude towards a technical career in addition to the following minimum academic requirements: –
KCSE Minimum Mean Grade of C- (minus) with at least C- (minus) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Technical subjects
KCSE Minimum Mean Grade of D (plain) with at least D (plain) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Technical subjects
Only FEMALES who meet the stated requirements and from VULNERABLE backgrounds may apply for
the scholarship by:
i. Completing the Scholarship Application Form and Declaration Page available on the KIHBT website
ii. Submitting a handwritten justification of not more than three hundred (300) words indicating why they deserve the training and the scholarship.
iii. Submitting a stamped and signed letter of recommendation from the area chief.
iv. Attaching copies of their National Identity Card, Birth Certificate, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Certificate, Other academic certificates, and other supporting documents such as
letters of recommendation.
v. The completed application form& declaration page, together with the attachments mentioned in (ii), (iii) and (iv) above, should be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to ‘the Director, Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology, Commercial Street, P.O. Box 57511 – 00200, Nairobi.

This should be submitted by post or hand-delivered to the registry, KIHBT main campus located along commercial street, Nairobi.
