Madira Soccer Assassins head coach Francis Muhambe says Zetech Sparks were lucky to escape with a point at Mumboha grounds in a Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL) match played on Sunday.
The Assassins conceded an early goal through Beverline Adika before Hellen Auma's penalty in the second half leveled the score line, and Muhambe claims they could have easily won the match if they were clinical in front of goal.
The seasoned tactician however praised Sparks' ability to tame down their attacks and secure a point from the tie.“Our immediate player Rebecca Kwoba scattered our plans in the midfield as she seemed to know our way of playing. An early goal we conceded disoriented us though we settled in the second half, played well and we deserved to win the match.”
“They were lucky to get a point as we failed to utilize our chances,” noted Muhambe.
With their trip to Bunyore Starlets still hanging in the balance, Muhambe has called on the federation to allow her team to play on Saturday before they release some of their players to join Rising Starlets camp on Sunday.
“We have four players who are leaving for national duty, we urge the federation to allow us play on Saturday because postponing the match will lead to congestion of fixtures. We already have two games which were postponed,” said Muhambe.
At the same time, Muhambe has urged his girls to keep focus ahead of the match. He will however be looking to outclass Starlets to claim the bagging rights.
The two teams shared the spoils when they last met in a pre-season friendly where the game ended 1-1.
