The Kenya School of Law is a public legal education provider responsible for the provision of professional legal training as an agent of the Government. The core functions of the School are set out in Section 4 of the KSL Act.
In order to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the service delivery, the School wishes to recruit committed, dynamic and result oriented persons who will join the existing strong team of staff to help it realize its vision of being “A centre of excellence in professional legal training, research and consultancy”.
Specifically, we seek to recruit: –
Overall purpose of the job
Reporting to the Director, the incumbent will be responsible for advising the School on information and communication technology needs and leveraging appropriate technology to effectively and efficiently deliver the ICT support services.
Job Description
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
(i) Setting up, configuring and maintaining all the School of law servers, desktops, mobiles, hardware, systems and applications to ensure smooth flow of ICT operations.
(ii) Perform daily systems monitoring, verify integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing systems and applications logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups to ensure availability and efficiency of the systems.
(iii) Managing all Kenya School of Law backups for disaster recovery process to ensure continuity of operations.
(iv) Developing and maintaining IT documentation processes and procedures to ensure consistent and harmonious operations in the department.
(v) Support in-house users on all aspects of ICT to ensure effective and efficient use of the systems.
(vi) Create, change and delete user accounts as per requests to ensure up to date user accounts.
(vii) Apply operating systems patches and upgrades on regular basis to enhance systems’ security.
(viii) Provide specifications for ICT equipment and systems to ensure conformance to user needs and standards.
Person Specification
To qualify for this position, the applicant must have: –
(i) At least four (4) years relevant work experience in public or private sector.
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science from a recognized Institution.
(iii) Certification in Programming, System Development and Administration, Networking, Cyber Security and System Audit.
(iv) Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
(v) Demonstrated results in work performance.
(vi) Relevant professional qualification.
(vii) Membership to relevant professional body in good standing.
(viii) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution.
Attendance of a Supervisory Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks.
Overall purpose of the job
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human Resource and Administration, the incumbent will implement effective strategies for planning, monitoring and evaluation to achieve the School’s strategic objectives.
Job Description
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
(i) Participating in the preparation of the departments work plan and budget.
(ii) Preparing Monitoring and Evaluation work plan.
(iii) Participating in the development of performance contracts.
(iv) Participating in preparation of periodic monitoring reports for performance contract and strategic planning implementation.
(v) Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
(vi) Preparing drafts for performance contracts and evaluation reports.
(vii) Participating in formulation of the strategic plan in consultation with key stakeholders.
(viii) Carrying out monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the strategic plan, work plans and performance contracts.
(ix) Participate formulation and review of the procedure and policy documents.
(x) Assisting in the preparation of the departmental budget.
(xi) Assisting in identification of departmental Key Performance Indicators, cost and implications.
(xii) Developing templates and formats for reporting, complete with guidelines.
(xiii) Undertaking Surveys, Data Entry and analysis.
(xiv) Participate in updating of the strategic policy initiatives and government priorities in line with MTPF guidelines.
(xv) Participate in performance reviews for all the departments to determine the level of departmental performance as compared to the targets.
(xvi) Participate in the departmental policy reviews.
(xvii) Participate in carrying out impact assessment studies.
(xviii) Initiate communications on the findings of the monitoring process and participate in the follow up for corrective action.
(xix) Participate in the preparation of quarterly implementation status reports for each financial year.
(xx) Assisting in the identifications of funding opportunities.
(xxi) Assisting in development of funding proposals and concept notes.
(xxii) Assisting in mobilizing non-financial resources from partners.
(xxiii) Developing an internal resource map.
(xxiv) Organizing donor engagement meetings.
Persons’ Specifications
To qualify for this position, the applicant must have: –
(i) At least Four (4) years’ relevant work experience in public or private sector.
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
(iii) Relevant professional qualification.
(iv) Membership to relevant professional body in good standing.
(v) Demonstrated results in work performance.
(vi) Proficiency in Computer Applications.
(vii) Meet requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
Attendance of a Supervisory Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks.
