A 14-year-old boy took his own life at his parents’ home in Kigumo village, Embu County.
The class eight pupil at Kiriari primary school was on Tuesday morning sent home to collect school fees balance.
Area assistant chief Nelson Muturi, while confirming the incident, said the boy identified as Dickson Mwenda arrived home from school and met her mother tending to other siblings.
Muturi adds that after a brief chat with his mother, the boy entered the house. Shortly, her mother prepared to escort him back to school, only to find Mwenda dangling from the roof.
Reverend Robert Nyaga, who also doubles as the village elder says that the boy was obedient and his reason to take his life is still baffling.
He urged residents to normalize seeking counsel whenever they are troubled.
Police moved the body to the mortuary, and will be conducting more investigations.
