Kylian Mbappe wasn't exactly keen on the idea of joining Newcastle when international teammate Antoine Griezmann signed him for the Magpies on Football Manager.
It was confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Newcastle will come up against European giants Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan in Group F of this season's Champions League.
As a result of yesterday's draw, Eddie Howe's side will, of course, come up against some of the world's best players in Europe's biggest competition, including PSG forward Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe was linked with an audacious move to St James' Park after the Saudi-led consortium completed their £305m takeover of Newcastle in October 2021.
In fact, the Frenchman was asked about a transfer to the Premier League club a few weeks later, when France teammate Antoine Griezmann signed him for Newcastle on popular game Football Manager.Griezmann opens up about winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Community Shield and the Super Cup by 2027.
And he achieved the above with the help of international teammate Mbappe, who was brought to St James' Park for a hefty price of £137 million.
Griezmann would later suggest the idea of Newcastle to the former AS Monaco striker, although he didn't exactly look delighted by the prospect of playing in rainy old England.After being informed of his move to the North East, a perplexed Mbappe replied: “Newcastle, where? It’s not very warm there, eh?”
Griezmann, who recently led Bordeaux to an 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions on the latest edition of Football Manager, is a big fan of the gaming franchise.A couple of years back, the former Atletico Madrid forward showed off his Arsenal side in 2023 and it contained a number of interesting names, including Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson.
Operating in a 4-3-2-1 formation, his club teammates Frenkie De Jong and Francisco Trincao were in the starting XI alongside the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Raphael Varane, Matthijs de Ligt, Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix.
Phil Foden, Brahim Diaz and Ruben Neves featured on the subs bench alongside Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham, of all people.
