A journalist has claimed it is 'likely' that Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool this week amid links with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.
Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Al Ittihad in recent weeks, with reports claiming that the Saudi club were preparing a bid of around £130 million to sign him.
However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp stated on Friday that Salah was not for sale, with the Egyptian still having just under two years remaining on his contract.
On his part, Salah has not addressed any transfer rumours publicly, although his agent did take to Twitter earlier this month to confirm that the forward is committed to Liverpool.
The 31-year-old started Sunday's 2-1 win over Newcastle, assisting Darwin Nunez's first goal in the second half.Now, a journalist has claimed that appearance could be the last time he wears a Liverpool shirt.Taking to Twitter, Norwegian journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft - who had spells in England as a player with Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Barnsley and Swindon - has revealed what he has heard about the Salah transfer saga.He claimed: "I understand it's likely that Salah will leave Liverpool this week."Although Fjortoft did not name which club Salah is 'likely' to join, it appears set to be Al Ittihad - if they can convince him to leave Anfield.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side have already signed Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Fabinho this summer, with Salah adding to their list of marquee signings if they can secure a deal.
According to CBS Sports, Al Ittihad plan to make the Egyptian one of the highest-paid players in world football, with their pursuit partly fuelled by the club's desire to perform strongly in the next edition of the Club World Cup. Whether Liverpool decide to sell, or whether Salah decides to leave, will be the deciding factors.
