Responsibilities:
Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
- Creating a warm welcome for every single guest that sets the tone for their experience with us
- Preparing and serving drinks to a high standard as well as highlighting promotions for our guests
- Owning your bar – managing stock, inventory and equipment as well as keeping the space cleaner than clean
- Handling cash and credit transactions
- Working closely with your restaurant colleagues to deliver a truly seamless food service
- Understand and execute all service procedures of the bars, lounges and restaurants in the hotel.
- Have an excellent understanding of food in general, ingredients and preparations to ensure the right drinks, cocktails and spirit can be recommended.
- Have an excellent understanding of classic cocktails, their recipes and history, cocktail trends as well as spirits and liqueurs.
- Control stocks, ensure efficient costing of cocktails and spirits as well as perform excellent recommendations to guests.
- Knowledgeable of the preparation of a large number of classic cocktails and all standard long drinks.
- Develop new recipes based on guest requests.
- Comply to the beverage guidelines given by the hotel and management.
- Run a bar from beginning to the end with all mise en place preparations, production of cocktails, cashiering as well as shift end duties.
- Perform up-selling all items offered by the department assigned as well as offering alternatives.
- Monitor operating supplies, equipment and reduce spoilage and wastage successfully.
- Perform opening and closing procedures as established for the assigned outlet/Bar.
- Be knowledgeable to operate the existing POS system based on the trained responsibility level as assigned in the department.
- Undertake reasonable tasks and secondary duties as assigned by the Department Head.
- Be knowledgeable of all services and products offered by the hotel.
- Handle guest enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints and feedback to your supervisor immediately.
- Respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the department management.
- Assist in carrying out scheduled inventories of products and operating equipment.
- Perform any other assigned reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Project at all times a positive and motivated attitude and exercise self-control.
- Report to to work on time wearing the correct uniform, clean and well pressed including appropriate shoes (polished) and nametag at all times according to the Hotel grooming standards, maintaining a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
- Ensure that the place of work and surrounding area is kept clean and organized at all times.
- Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, departmental trainings and hotel initiated trainings scheduled and undertake to complete all assigned trainings with the scheduled completion time.
What we need from you
- Diploma/ Certificate in bar operations.
- Strong knowledge of beverages (cocktails, liquors, wine, etc…).
- Knowledge and experience in the use of Micros
- Computer literate and proficiency in Excel and Word.
- At least two to three years experience in a similar position.
- Experience in a similar role and proven track record may be considered in lieu of specialized education
- Presentable, well spoken individual, Pleasant and outgoing personality.
- Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.
- Excellent grooming skills and must be well versed in professional and personal etiquette
- Fluent in English speaking and a good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment and can multitask
- The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg) which can also involve bending and kneeling.
- The flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
