SHL/HRD/01/08/23: BIOMEDICAL ENGINEER
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The job holder will be responsible for providing support to patient diagnoses and treatment by installing, testing, calibrating, and repairing biomedical equipment; training users and maintaining safe operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies related to medical equipment.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in biomedical technology, codes, and regulations to ensure the hospital’s biomedical systems are up-to-date and in compliance.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to coordinate biomedical work and minimize disruption to hospital operations.
- Implementation of Planned preventive maintenance of all the medical equipment as per schedule.
- Performing of Corrective Maintenance on Medical equipment.
- Installation of new Medical equipment as per manufactures recommendations.
- Performing calibration and electrical safety test on Medical Equipment.
- Training clinicians and other personnel on how to use/handle biomedical machines and equipment, safely and effectively.
- Maintenance of appropriate records of Breakdown and preventative maintenance.
- Daily Monitoring of Critical Equipment Uptime.
- Performing of Monthly Checks on Medical Equipment
- Liaise between Medical equipment vendors and the hospital for Breakdown and Preventive maintenance.
- Support inventory management of medical equipment.
- Responsible for all repairs and maintenance tools and materials in their custody.
- Ensure tidiness and safety of workstations and sites within the hospital.
- Recommend materials and supplies for requisition within the workshop stores necessary for efficient delivery of services.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Hold a National Diploma or Higher National Diploma in biomedical engineering, biomedical science, or a related field.
- At least Five (5) years proven experience working within the field of biomedical engineering in a hospital set up.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Great eye for design and the technical ability to transform designs into products.
- Exceptional team-working and communication and presentation skills for training
- Should be well versed with hospital machines and equipment’s included ventilators
- Must be an individual of integrity
- Ability to work under stress and for extended hours if called upon
- Able to perform duties well without close supervision
SHL/HRD/02/08/23: DENTIST
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The job holder will be responsible for diagnosing, treating and advising on various dental issues. The key objective for this role will be to promote and maintain good oral health among our patients which will involve not only treating existing dental conditions but also educating individuals about preventive dental care practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examining teeth and diagnosing patients’ dental conditions by using tools such as x-rays
- Treating pathological conditions of the oral cavity
- Performing dental surgery, including the extraction of teeth and roots, removal of impacted teeth
- Analyzing oral radiographs for diagnostic purposes
- Prescribing medications for infection control, pain control, and for the control of viral, bacterial, and fungal infections
- Providing instructions in oral hygiene and methods of preventing the spread of oral diseases.
- Reviewing medical histories and records dental treatment in medical charts to ensure that treatment plan does not compromise patient health
- Assessing treatment options and agreeing on treatment plans with patients
- Carrying out agreed clinical treatments such as restoring teeth affected by decay and treating gum disease
- Maintaining patients’ dental records and information by entering patient details in the information system (computer) or other patient records
- Providing guidance to dental nurse and receptionist in delivering patient care and coordinating appointments
- Attending meetings, forums, seminars and workshops organized by the management
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and treats staff, physicians and patients with dignity and respect
- Liaising daily with medical/non-medical staff including other doctors and healthcare professionals for effective care delivery
- Preparing operational reports to the management for various activities and operations undertaken
- Performing any other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor degree in Dental Surgery from a recognized university
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and dental council
- At least 3 years relevant post-qualification experience
- Thorough knowledge of the practices and techniques of dental surgery and treatment
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Should demonstrate high levels of compassion, integrity, commitment and professionalism
SHL/HRD/05/07/23: SONOGRAPHER
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The job holder will be responsible for providing safe, efficient, high quality diagnostic imaging services to both inpatient and outpatient using modern imaging technology to produce radiographs and imaging.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify patient clinical history and health status, evaluate related tests and images for patient
- Communicating comfortably and clearly with patient to explain the procedure, answer questions and relay information about what to expect during the procedure
- Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Identifying and documenting unexpected results that may indicate the need for further testing or immediate medical attention
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with institutional and professional procedures, rules, and regulations
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure legal compliance and safety of both the patient and other staff within the premises
- Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments
- Maintaining the records of patients for future reference
- Training and mentoring subordinates including orienting new employees
- Performing any other work-related duty assigned from time to time
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Diploma in medical Imaging Sciences
- Higher diploma in ultrasound will be an added advantage
- At least three (3) years’ experience in similar position
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional radiological principles, procedures and techniques
- Ability to maintain positive public relations
- Knowledge of radiological equipment and instruments and their operations
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team based environment
- Ability to work under stress and for extended hours if called upon
- Able to perform duties well without close supervision
