Police have been deployed around State House for security ahead of the Azimio rally at Jacaranda after threats that Azimio supporters would march to State House.
Police have put roadblocks on roads leading to the State House and denied bodaboda riders access to the roads.
Police vehicles are seen parked on roads leading to the State House.
Dozens of police have also been mobilised to ensure security at Jacaranda.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said his team had met with organisers of the event and agreed on various modalities. This will ensure it starts and ends well.
“No one wants chaos. We are here for all,” he said.
He said more personnel had been mobilised to also provide security for the scheduled Mashemeji Derby.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga will hold a mega rally at the historic Jacaranda grounds.
This is the second gathering in a week as part of his political resistance against Ruto's government.
