Personal Details

  • About Me Daicy is a fourth year student of Electrical and Communication Engineering at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. As a young woman in STEM and also a student leader, Daicy has faced discrimination and challenges in not only championing for the rights of her fellow students but finding her voice and platform as a woman in STEM. Her persistence and commitment to defending young womens in learning institution saw her rise from class representative to campus captain. This has given her resilience and focus giving her voice to speak for young women in institutions of higher learning. I am passionate about women and specifically young women in STEM. Growing up, I have seen the biasness, discrimination and name calling placed on girls that they are meant to study humanities and in worst case for marriage. STEM courses were specifically meant for men since girls were considered to be incompetent and not intelligent enough. My urge to be the change I have always wanted to see motivated me to take up an Engineering course. The fact that I am even performing better than my men counterparts remains my motivation and passion to encourage girls to take up this space.
