CEFA was founded in 1972 by some agricultural cooperatives from Bologna and the intuition of two visionary men: Giovanni Bersani and Father Angelo Cavagna. CEFA the Seed of Solidarity is a non-governmental organization that has been working for 50 years to defeat hunger and poverty. It helps the poorest communities in the world to achieve food self-sufficiency and respect for fundamental rights (education, work, gender equality, protection of minors). CEFA's goal is to create sustainable development models, that is, to implement initiatives that ensure the growth of a territory, greater well-being and resilience to climate change, stimulating the participation of local populations so that they themselves are protagonists of their development.
