Machakos Town is the administrative capital of the County. , Machakos County borders Nairobi and Kiambu counties to the West, Embu to the North, Kitui to the East, Makueni to the South, Kajiado to the South West, and Murang’a and Kirinyaga to the North West. Machakos County stretches from latitudes 0º 45’ South to 1º 31’ South and longitudes 36° 45’ East to 37° 45’ East. The county has an altitude of 1000 – 1600 meters above sea level. Our City operates under a Council-Manager form of government and has done so since 1932. The two major components to this system of government are the City Council; and a City Manager. The City Council is the legislative body, establishing City policies, while the City Manager is the administrator, designated to carry out the directives of the Council. Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: 

  • Carrying  out  angular  and  distance  measurements  and  computation  for 
  • medium and high density topographical  surveys, general  engineering surveys,  sub-divisional schemes. medium area cadastral and photo control surveys.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:- Land Surveying, Geospatial Engineering: Geomantic Engineering: Geomantic Engineering and Geospatial Information Systems; Technology in Survey or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  • Certificate in computer applications skills.
