The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme (โThe Fundโ) was established by a Trust Deed dated 1 January 1970. The Fund is a defined benefit occupational pension fund and was formed for the employees of The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited (โthe Sponsorโ), then known as East Africa Power and Lighting Company Limited. The Fund is governed by Trust Deed and Rules which have been approved by the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA). The main purpose of the Fund is the provision of cash benefits and pensions to the members upon attainment of the retirement age of sixty years, and where applicable, benefits for dependents of deceased members. The Fund is among the largest Pension Funds in Kenya and is mature. The number of active members above the age of 50 years, pensioners and deferred pensioners is much greater than the number of younger active members. Job Description
- This role is responsible for collecting information, conducting research and analyzing assets such as stocks, bonds, currencies and commodities to recommend to the Fund viable assets and opportunities to invest in or disinvest from. The role is also responsible for keeping track and monitoring the activities of the Fund managers who undertake investment decisions on behalf of the Fund.

Key Responsibilities
- Measure and evaluate return on investment trends that may affect the investment portfolio.
- Management and storage of department data
- Develop periodic reports
- Review fund manager’s investment plans and advise on market trends and market risk.
- Undertaking research on the existing investment portfolio and on new investments.
- Analyse financial information relating to specific companies, e.g. company results, profit and loss
- Keep up to date with market developments, new investment products and all other areas
- Carry out monitoring & evaluation of Funds portfolio returns, both traditional and alternative
- Develop and implement basic models in investments that will guide in decision making
- Investment trends & scenario analysis and develop scenario models
- Evaluate the investment portfolio to determine and advise on the risk exposure
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelors Degree or an equivalent in bachelor of science in business administration (accounting/finance option) from accredited and recognized institution.
- Professional in bachelor of economics and finance from accredited and recognized institution.
- Professional in bachelor of commerce (accounting/finance option) from accredited and recognized institution.
- 5 years of relevant experience as an supervisor in pension industry
- Professional qualifications in Accounting or Investments e.g. CPA, ACCA, ICIFA, CFA or equivalent
- Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, including ability to build collaborative relationships
- Sensitivity to diversity/inclusion.
