Purchasing Agent Description:
We are looking for a dedicated purchasing to join our procurement team. The purchasing agent reports to the purchasing manager and is responsible for identifying suppliers, researching goods and services, processing purchase orders, and verifying delivered items.
To be successful as a purchasing agent you should be able to critically assess suppliers, products, and services, and negotiate the best possible deals. Ultimately, an outstanding purchasing agent has a keen sense of business and maintains meticulous transaction records.
Highly motivated sourcing specialist to assist the company in creating strong relationships with suppliers and maintaining the existing ones. The sourcing specialist’s responsibilities include sourcing goods, materials, and services at competitive prices and advising upper-level staff members on which suppliers to contract with. He should be able to maintain and update the supplier database and find alternative suppliers if the existing ones are unable to meet their obligations.
Purchasing Agent Responsibilities:
1) Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services;
2) Sourcing suppliers and maintaining long-lasting relationships with them as well as existing suppliers;
3) Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency;
4) Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs;
5) Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices;
6) Preparing and processing purchase orders;
7) Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments;
8) Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries;
9) Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations;
10) Implementing inventory optimization strategies within the company;
11) Obtaining quotes from different suppliers;
12) Negotiating price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers along with procurement manager;
13) Working with legal counsel to ensure that all contracts relating to product procurement contain all details of the negotiation;
14) Assessing quotes and compiling a detailed assessment of cost breakdowns;
15) Generating quote comparisons and contributing to internal supplier selection based on the quotes;
16) Providing solutions to improve company spending and outsourcing.
Purchasing Agent Requirements:
1) Previous experience as a purchasing agent in Oilfield & Chemical field;
2) Proficiency in CRM and inventory management software programs;
3) Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
4) Strong organization and documentation skills;
5) Strong research and analytical skills;
6) Proven experience in sourcing processes;
7) Proficiency in Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel, and outlook;
8) Strong understanding of sourcing methodologies;
9) Sound time-management and organizational skills;
