The Opportunity

 

As a Finance and Accounting Manager, you will be working with multiple stakeholders and accountable for preparation of financial statements, annual budgets, financial forecasts , in addition to managing all accounting for the specific Joint Venture, ensuring that business transactions are recorded and reported with integrity, transparency, in a timely manner and in compliance with relevant accounting policies and operating practices.

 

What you will be doing

 

Accounting:

 

Review and process both operated and non-operated billings, including review of overhead, working interest, capital charges, contract operating rates and relevant agreements.

Ensuring the correct preparation of billings, cash calls, cost recovery statements of the operated asset.

Performing month closing in the form of all the activities concerning the JV, including P&L, BS, CF, allocation of cost centres, reconciliation of partners accounts and other related activities.

Recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring that all financial data is properly classified and coded.

Monitoring actual JV costs versus approved budgets (Internal, Partners, Government).

Providing Planning, Budget and Reporting unit with the details of JV activities in a form needed for reporting.

Ensuring accounting transactions comply with company policies and procedures, contractual terms, agreements and statutory requirements.

Keeping updated procedures on JV accounting in line with regulatory systems.

Checking and verifying VAT returns in coordination with internal and external VAT liaisons.

Reviewing contracts related to the JV and performing studies in new projects and agreements ( P&L, working capital etc).

Finance:

 

Prepare the annual budget for approval by the business and review with the Board; providing information on the future outlook of the business.

Manage and control actual cost versus budget on monthly basis and provide financial reports/data related to the project’s financial performance.

Understand operational issues and impacts; ensuring financial results depict operational changes. Support the delivery of the annual financial plan by challenging the status quo and helping drive the business using performance insights.

Acts as the key financial contact for all proposed projects; ensuring assumptions are vetted, accounting treatment is understood, and financial execution is flawless.

Liaises with the commercial and project teams to validate distribution payments, challenge project spend and ensure compliance with financial policies.

Manages all financial aspects of the joint venture, networking effectively across external audit, to ensure timely delivery of accurate financial statements.

Focus on continuous improvement of efforts within the embedded finance community by standardizing and streamlining processes and maintaining control.

Understand, monitor and mitigate any financial related risks. Alerts management to any risks of financial delivery.

Monitor and administer the execution of the JV agreement throughout the full JV lifecycle, resolving any potential issues.

Support the JV General Manager in ensuring that TGM’s interests and rights, as the JV partner, are protected throughout the JV lifecycle.

Assist in supporting JV performance and risk management, ensuring that the company’s integrated interests are documented, raised, understood, protected, and promoted.

What you will need to succeed

 

Qualified Chartered Accountant, Bachelor’s degree, and/or Master’s degree.

6 to 8 years of post-qualification experience with 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

Prior Joint Venture experience preferred.

Demonstrable financial and commercial knowledge of JVs and investment projects.

Excellent analytical and economic evaluation skills.

Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.

Proven capability to interact with team members with different cultural backgrounds.

Ability to make significant contributions to the business while offering sound, independent control and commercial advice.

Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects.

Ability to effectively influence and build alignment with individuals across multiple disciplines.
