Job Description

About the role

  • As Senior Manager, Internal Consulting, you’ll lead this new team from the ground up.
  • You’ll build systems, lead projects, and develop a small but mighty team of two Associates (and growing).
  • You’ll scope and deliver cross-functional projects that strengthen the foundation for scale—whether testing operating models for expansion, improving core internal systems, or partnering with leadership to solve strategic bottlenecks.
  • You’ll think like a management consultant but act like an operator: comfortable moving from frameworks and data to field realities and follow-through.

What you’ll do

  • Scope and build a new function. Define how Internal Consulting adds value and sets standards across F4E.
  • Deliver high-value projects. Strengthen the systems that enable F4E’s national expansion and advisory work across Africa.
  • Lead and grow a team. Manage two Associates and shape their professional development.
  • Engage senior leaders. Work directly with the COO and functional heads on organization-wide priorities.
  • Develop as a systems leader. Build experience that positions you for future strategic or operational leadership roles.

Who you are

  • You think like a management consultant: you can structure ambiguous problems, use data to drive clarity, and communicate insight simply.
  • You’ve managed people and projects and enjoy both.
  • You have 5-7 years of experience in consulting, strategy, finance, engineering, or similarly analytical roles in fast-paced, client-service environments.
  • You’re confident shifting between doing and leading: building analyses one day and coaching your team the next.
  • You have strong organizational and communication skills; you can synthesize information for any audience.
  • You value curiosity and humility, your success comes from making others better.
  • You’re energized by purpose-driven work and excited by the idea of building systems that feed millions of children.
  • Key Duties & Responsibilities

Team set-up and leadership (~25%):

  • Help establish and set up Food4Education’s internal consulting team, including providing input on strategy and processes for soliciting, selecting, and executing projects.
  • Inform the design of internal team processes to ensure coordination, common standards, and continual improvement.
  • Create, test, and improve tools to enable team management and growth (e.g., project trackers, impact dashboards).

Project management (~60%):

  • Lead or co-lead projects that address critical areas of need or opportunity for the organization, from scoping through execution and handover.
  • Support the design and implementation of select organizational pilots, innovations, or growth projects to accelerate impact.
  • Manage internal client relationships to build demand for the team’s work and ensure work is effective and well-received.
  • Create and utilize project implementation tools that establish a long-term standard for this team’s operations.

Ecosystem scanning and engaging (~15%):

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the critical dynamics in the markets and environments relevant to Food4Education’s work, including school feeding, nonprofit strategy and operations, and technological innovation.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with select peers, partners, and supporters to enable and sustain information sharing and growth (e.g., think tanks, businesses, and similar non-profits).
  • Formulate Food4Education’s Internal Consulting function to be best-in-class relative to peers in the field, utilizing industry knowledge and expertise.
