- The Junior Heavy Plant Mechanic will support the maintenance and repair of the company’s construction equipment fleet across project sites. The role requires hands-on experience in mechanical repair and servicing of heavy construction machinery, as well as an understanding of safety, preventive maintenance, and diagnostic procedures. The position calls for an NYS-trained mechanic with strong technical aptitude and discipline, able to work both independently and as part of a maintenance team to keep equipment operating efficiently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy construction equipment including ADTs, graders, excavators, rollers, and related machinery.
- Conduct routine inspections, identify faults, and perform basic mechanical repairs under supervision.
- Support troubleshooting activities and escalate complex mechanical or electrical issues to senior mechanics.
- Maintain accurate service records, tool inventories, and maintenance logs.
- Adhere to safety standards and workshop procedures at all times.
- Provide field support during active projects to minimize equipment downtime.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Must be an NYS-trained Plant Mechanic.
- Basic electrical knowledge in heavy equipment systems, with ability to diagnose minor issues and escalate complex ones.
- Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools, repair manuals, and workshop equipment.
- Diploma or certificate in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4 to 6 years of experience working with heavy plant and construction equipment.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems used in heavy machinery.
- Ability to work long hours and adapt to dynamic construction site environments.
- Experience working in an equipment leasing or construction company is an added advantage.
- Valid driver’s license
