Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

 

To cultivate a safe, secure, and healthy environment for patients, colleagues, and staff while delivering exceptional quality care to patients and their families.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Maintain the highest possible standard of client care by adhering to the hospital's standard treatment protocols and guidelines.

 

Continuously monitor and evaluate patients admitted to the wards and assist doctors during ward rounds.

 

Carry out procedures such as wound dressing, suturing, deliveries, bed-making, damp dusting, taking vital signs, and conducting physical examinations, in line with hospital protocols and guidelines.

 

Assist in theatre by preparing instruments, circulating, scrubbing, and monitoring patients.

 

Ensure patient safety and maintain confidentiality of all client information at all times.

 

Ensure 24-hour coverage of the hospital by following the monthly duty Rota.

 

Facilitate a smooth and efficient client flow to minimize waiting times.

 

Provide accurate, friendly, and helpful service, advice, guidance, and education to all clients while maintaining a high standard of customer care.

 

Ensure doctors' and nurses' rooms are clean, well-equipped, and properly maintained, and assist in the preparation for procedures.

 

Safeguard patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.

 

Timely and appropriately admit patients requiring inpatient care, initiate discharge planning, and ensure all chargeable services and items are correctly billed.

 

Accurately file all medical claims and ensure timely preparation of Ministry of Health (MOH) and nursing reports.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Diploma or Degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised institution.

 

Registered Nurse with a valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya.

 

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a busy hospital setting.
