Job Description
Purpose:
To provide comprehensive care to patients, link them up with the appropriate multidisciplinary teams and offer exceptional follow-up care.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver safe general, spinal and block anesthesia/ Epidural anesthesia to patients requiring surgery and administering epidural for labour
- Explaining the benefits and risks of various Anesthetic techniques to patients and obtaining informed consent.
- Deliver local anesthesia patients requiring minor surgery.
- Perform pre-operative detailed evaluation and assessment of patients scheduled for surgery.
- Keen and close intraoperative monitoring of patients vital observations and organ function according to ASA standards and guidelines.
- Close post-operative patient follow-up in the recovery unit and ward.
- Responsible for the maintenance of standard antisepsis in the operation theatre.
- Ensuring detailed perioperative documentation
- Attending to emergency cases and timely response during resuscitation and instructing and supervising KRNA students during clinical rotation.
- Identify patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains safe, clean and sterile working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
Applicants Qualifications, Experience, Competencies and Attributes
- Higher Diploma in Anesthesia from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Nursing or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Have a Certificate of Registration from the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Valid Professional Practice License from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Have a Certificate of Registration from the Nursing Council of Kenya;
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Theatre Department.
- Must have a valid BLS and ACLS certificates
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
