Job Description
To drive innovative strategic partnerships around product development aimed at profitable growth of the health business, ensuring that set underwriting rules are adhered, products’ experience is continually monitored to maintain a competitive edge in the market and progressively improve predictive analytics capabilities to ensure significant forward-looking view of the business.
Underwriting
- Overseeing underwriting, debiting, membership management and key operational processes affecting the corporate and retail portfolio.
- Determine acceptability of risks, monitor and review terms of accounts.
- Ensure timely and accurate debiting of premium and endorsement of cover conditions.
- Oversee preparation of renewal notices and timely dispatch.
- Prepare underwriting reports and statistics for management review.
- Review of risk assessment and rating systems, procedures to make recommendations for improvement.
- Continually monitor clients claims experience/ benefit utilization and recommend underwriting action.
- Conduct quarterly audits of underwriting guidelines and ensure it is up to date
- Maintain effective business relationships to ensure effective delivery of service
- Monitor service standards within the section to ensure high quality customer service is delivered and ensure adherence to set TATs.
- Supervise, train and mentor staff on technical matters.
Research & Development
- Delivering innovative strategic partnerships that will positively impact the business by improving insurance penetration and ensuring profitable business growth.
- Prepare analytical performance reports for the business.
- Leverage on healthcare technology integration to promote preventive care and monitor health
- Leverage on data to assess risks and develop personalized insurance plans to maintain leadership in product innovation
- Lead the business in identifying and rolling out new innovations in healthcare and health insurance space
Products
- Product Development and Product Ownership- involved in end-to-end analysis, development and seeking both internal and regulatory approval for new and revamped retail, corporate and bancassurance products.
- Carrying out regular risk assessments for new and revamped products.
- Custodian of product artefacts including policy documents, brochures and forms while overseeing any required changes and improvements
- Monitoring product performance and apply interventions as and when required
- Support in digitization of products.
Qualifications &Experience

- 7 years and above
- Certificate in Insurance
