Job Description

Reporting to: Operations Director

Salary: 70,000 Kshs

Our client is a Christian non-profit organization that runs a well-established school grades 1- 8 located in Nakuru seeking a Facility and Operations Supervisor who shall be responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance, repairs, and overall upkeep of the school. This person shall also be required to drive the school vans from time to time. The role requires an experienced general facility professional, with expertise in plumbing, general facility repairs, and the ability to supervise maintenance staff. The Facility Supervisor ensures that the school remains safe, functional, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Oversee and perform routine plumbing maintenance, including repairs, installations, and troubleshooting of water systems, drainage, and sanitary fixtures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify necessary repairs in plumbing, lighting, and structural elements.
  • Coordinate and execute general facility repairs such as minor electrical work, carpentry, painting, and any other necessary building maintenance.
  • Train and guide team members on safety protocols, maintenance techniques, and use of equipment.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure all systems and equipment are regularly serviced and in good working order.
  • Maintain records of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Liaise with external contractors for specialized facility repairs or installations (e.g., CCTV, electrical systems) when necessary.
  • Ensure the facility adheres to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, ensuring stock levels are sufficient for daily operations.
  • Maintain an organized system for tools and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working condition.
  • Generate reports on maintenance activities, costs, and equipment status for review by the Directors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction and maintenance, Artisan Certification in Plumbing/ Electrical or related course.
  • Proven experience of 3 – 4 Years in a similar capacity, and maintenance management.
  • The candidate must possess a valid driving license with qualifications in Categories B, C, and D. 
  • Leadership experience in supervising a maintenance team or contractors.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in facility management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
